CYC seeking nomination of outstanding mentors

WILMINGTON The Lake PlacidWilmington Connecting Youth and Communities (CYC) Coalition is seeking outstanding adults and youth who have provided extraordinary service to youth. Awards will be presented at the second annual Lake Placid-Wilmington Connecting Youth and Community (CYC) Awards Evening, which takes place on Thursday, May 17 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Beach House in Lake Placid. We want to showcase new resources for teens, mobilize the community on behalf of teens and recognize people adults and youth in Lake Placid and Wilmington who have made extraordinary contributions to teens well-being, said Anna Lee Court, director of the Parent Media Campaign for the CYC. People can nominate a teacher, coach, business owner, pastor, youth or anyone who should be recognized for their contribution to youth (Lake Placid or Wilmington residents only). Nominations should include name, what contributions he/she has made and the nominators contact information. Mail or email nominations to: Rickie Ann Canny, Lake Placid-Wilmington CYC Coalition, P.O. Box 494 Lake Placid, NY 12946 foundfun@adelphia.net. If youth are important to the community, we need to recognize those individuals who work for their healthy development, said Court. The evening will present a program launching the CYC Web site, which contains resources for youth and parents including calendars, resources for more information or help with problems, pictures, interactive components, biographies of CYC members, teen public service announcements, teen produced videos and more. The event is sponsored by Lake PlacidWilmington Connecting Youth and Communities Coalition and its community partners: Ad Workshop, Adirondack Daily Enterprise, Lake Placid Central School District, Lake Placid News, Lake Placid Outing Club, Mountain Communications, Prevention Team, Thomas Shipman Memorial Youth Center and Wilmington Youth Center. The Wilmington Connecting Youth and Communities (CYC) Coalition is a youth development organization of local community leaders, youth, parents, and government and business partners who work together for the health and well-being of our youth.
