Renaissance School student wins prize for artwork

SHELBURNEThe talent of second grader Phillipe Tousignant won a wonderful prize for his classroom and his school, the Renaissance School at Shelburne Farms in Shelburne. As Grand Prize winner of the 2007 ECHO Earth Weeks Art Contest, Phillipe won a $1,000 donation from Hannaford Supermarkets for the Renaissance School, and an Apple MacBook laptop computer courtesy of Small Dog Electronics. On Monday morning Phillipes school mates gathered for the special occasion as ECHOs Executive Director Phelan Fretz presented the check to Renaissance School Administrator Dave Fedlam, and the computer to 2nd grade teacher Stephanie DeCarreau and art teacher Laura Poirier. The winning art will be displayed at ECHO during ECHO Earth Weeks MudFest, April 16 to 29. All contest entries will be available for viewing starting April 16 within a searchable art gallery at echovermont.org and all hard copy entries will be displayed at Hannaford supermarkets in Vermont and Plattsburgh.
