Douglas helps raise for funds for military families

Middlebury resident Gov. Jim Douglas third inaugural celebration raised $47,000 for the Vermont Military Family Emergency Assistance Fund and collected several hundred pounds of food for the Vermont Foodbank. The formal event, held Jan. 5, to celebrate the third inauguration of Douglas, was held at the Sheraton, South Burlington. Approximately 700 Vermonters attended. The Vermont Military Family Emergency Assistance Fund, Inc. (VMFEAF) is a private, non-profit organization that has been instituted for the express purpose of providing emergency financial assistance to service members and their families. Governor Douglas said Vermonters who would like to make a contribution to this fund should call 802-338-3347 or mail checks, payable to VMFEAF to P.O. Box 26, Essex Jct. 05453.
