The second annual Festival of Cultures took place last Saturday, April 7 at the Burlington High School, with proceeds from donations and a silent auction benefitting the Sara Holbrook Community Center and its childrens programs. The Festival transformed the Burlington High School into a one-stop expedition for global adventure. The day-long celebration from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. showcased unique ethnic foods, dance, art and music. Performances included traditional Chinese folk music, Burlington Taiko Youth Ensemble, FolKids, Sambatucada, Vietnamese youth dancers, and three different African drum and dance groups. Local vendors sold ethnic foods to feast on; from Chinese dumplings, African cassava leaves and somosas to Mediterranean sandwiches and European desserts. Art and cultural wares were on sale and fun activities were available for kids and adults alike.
