Patriotic band concert

LAKE GEORGE After two sell-out performances in 2006, The Lake George Community Band (LGCB), under the baton of conductor Greg Mason, is back in concert at the Charles R. Wood Theater on Glen Street, downtown Glens Falls, on Armed Forces Day, May 19 at 8 p.m. The benefit performance is a tribute to members of our Armed Forces both past and present, honoring the service and sacrifice that so many American servicemen and women have made for their country. It is traditional to honor each branch of the Armed Forces with its own service song, and for the veterans and members of each branch to stand and be recognized during the duration of their song. This will be observed when the Armed Forces on Parade/Salute selection is performed. The patriotic music and military marches in the program may bring back memories of days gone by for some in the audience. Also included in the theme will be selections from 1940s Big Band leader Glenn Miller, music from the 20th centurys Gilbert & Sullivan works, a medley of Broadway favorites by George & Ira Gershwin, a klezmer piece titled Frejlech Sol Sajn, and many more. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are available at the box office at 798-9663 beginning April 30. All proceeds from ticket sales to benefit the Charles R. Wood Theater.
