Lake Placid Visitors Bureau to Host Global Warming Caf

LAKE PLACIDJoin the Visitors Bureau Staff and other community members at the Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort on Saturday, April 14 at 9 a.m. to celebrate StepItUp.orgs National Day of Climate Action with the first-ever Lake Placid Global Warming Cafe鮠 The goal of Step It Up is to form a united front of people who are concerned about global climate change. Organizations all over the country are planning simultaneous events on April 14 with the end goal of urging Congress to commit to reducing U.S. carbon emissions 80% by 2050. The Global Warming Caf頩s a participatory workshop to empower and encourage community members to become part of the solution. There will be guest speakers, power-point presentations, and most importantly, the opportunity to learn exactly what personal actions you can take on an everyday basis to reduce your energy use. There will also be the opportunity to share personal experiences on the topic of global warming or going green. Since the days of the first conservationist, Teddy Roosevelt, Lake Placid and the Adirondacks have set an example for the rest of the country on how people and wilderness can co-exist. Check out www.stepitupadk.org for more information. If you would like participate in this event, please contact Margaret Marchuk at 523-2445 ex. 189 or margaret@lakeplacid.com
