CHESTERTOWN David Aitken, son of Victor and Jennifer Aitken, has been selected as North Warren Central Schools Rotary Student of the Month for February 2007. David is friendly and outgoing and makes school fun while maintaining excellent grades, a full schedule of hockey, and working with the family landscaping business. David describes himself as always getting the job done and has learned to be responsible with his spare time in order to accomplish the successes he has achieved. Davids English teacher commends him for single-handedly putting together the media newspaper without her even asking him to do it. She says that it turned out to be one of the best newspapers that has ever been done. She also says that David gives 101 percent in class and was happy that he was selected for the Rotary recognition. David has been a member of National Honor Society for the last three years and has been an integral part of the junior, senior, and jazz bands at North Warren, playing trumpet. He has participated in All County band for several years and traveled with the school band to competitions in Hershey, Pennsylvania and Washington D.C. David has taken a rigorous course of study and has earned college credit for some of his high school classes. Outside of school, David plays hockey. North Warren does not have a hockey team so David has had to travel extensively to participate in the sport he loves and excels in. He has played in numerous tournaments across the northeast and has won many awards. Looking to next year, David has been accepted at Clarkson in Potsdam and plans to study Business Administration. The North Warren School and the Chestertown Rotary Club are happy to recognize David for his hard work, love of learning, and dedication.
