JOHNSBURG — The Corner Gallery of the Town of Johnsburg Library is displaying art work by Johnsburg Central School students. This show is a wonderful, colorful mix of art. Maria Glode, who teaches elementary, middle and high school art at Johnsburg, inspires her classes with imaginative assignments such as Altered Books in which books that were destined for the scrap heap have become instead the basis of truly fun art, sculptures blossoming from the pages. Another assignment was creating art from recycled cardboard. The Zentangle Method creates images through patterns. There are also linoleum prints done by the 8th grade and chalk pastels by the 5th graders.
It’s impossible to describe this exhibit. You have to see the art for yourself, and it’s only up through the month of April, so please come to the library, enjoy the exhibit and browse the collection of books and DVD’s. The library is open Wednesday, 11a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call 251-4343 for information on coming programs.
