In relief carving you learn how to shape your image and how to remove the background, creating a powerful three-dimensional feeling. Come carve your own bird on a branch. You will first carve the branch and leaves, and as you remove material around the bird, branches, and other features, the flat surfaces will come into three-dimensional realism. Learn a variety of carving skills as you work with knives and gouges, and all about sharpening tools and the tricks that add detail and depth to the finished piece. Some experience in woodworking is helpful, but the class is open to all levels and beginners are welcome. Come get hooked on an entirely new way to enjoy woodcarving.
Fee = $85 + $10 for materials.
