Clarke to speak on new book

ESSEX — Thurston Clarke will discuss his latest book, “JFK’s Last Hundred Days: The Transformation of a Man and the Emergence of a Great President (Penguin, 2013),“ at the Essex Community Church on Monday, Oct. 7, at 5 p.m. Clarke is the author of 12 widely acclaimed books of fiction and nonfiction, including three New York Times notable books. “JFK’s Last Hundred Days,” is a revelatory, minute-by-minute account of JFK’s last hundred days that asks what might have been. This event will occur on 50th anniversary of Kennedy’s signing of the ratification of the Limited Test Ban Treaty, which he considered his proudest legislative achievement.
Clarke will talk for about a half hour and take questions. The event is a joint presentation of the Paine Memorial Library in Willsboro and the Belden Noble Memorial Library in Essex. It is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served after the talk.
