Adirondack Pack Basket – Small with Linda Allen. #267-0628.

This will be a day of weaving ending with a wonderful, hand-made pack ready for your day hike or canoe trip. Weave your pack with various sizes of reed, add a hand carved oak handle, and apply a cotton harness or custom leather harness. (The leather harness needs to be ordered a minimum of two weeks prior to class). Weave a plain base with pre-cut stakes, then continuous weave with flat reed. You will be guided as you concentrate on shape and create a belly for your basket as you weave. Then you pack the weave tight, weave the false rim, cut and tuck stakes, and add the handle, rim, and skids. Learn how to fit your rim, and carve your skids and rim using a drawknife. A harness will be applied to your completed basket. A pattern will be included with your materials. Students should bring the following tools: pencil, tape measure, scissors, diagonal cutters if you have them, spring type clothespins, awl or letter opener for tucking spokes, basketry packing tool, cable ties, knife or shaver for scarfing, clamps, hand towel, and soak bucket.

Fee = $85 + Materials ($55-$65)
