2013 Clinton & Essex County Law Enforcement Torch Runs

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest grassroots fundraising and public awareness vehicle for Special Olympics world-wide. On June 6th & 7th, local Law Enforcement officers from city, state and federal agencies will participate in this run to help raise awareness and support the athletes of Special Olympics New York.

June 6th- Clinton County- Officers will begin at Chazy State Police Station at 9:30am, carry the "Flame of Hope" nearly 13 miles down Route 9, and will be greeted by coaches and athletes at Plattsburgh City Hall around noon.

June 7th- Essex County- Officers will begin at Riverside Park in Saranac Lake at 9:00am, carry the "Flame of Hope" nearly 10 miles down Route 86, and will be greeted by coaches and athletes at the Olympic Oval in Lake Placid around 11:30am.

This event raises much needed funds for the nearly 62,000 athletes of Special Olympics New York. It also demonstrates the unique bond between Law Enforcement and Special Olympics athletes. Special Olympics New York provides year round training in Olympic-style sports, never at any cost to the athletes, their families or caregivers.
