This is a great in-between size that works well for a man or woman. You will weave your pack with various sizes of reed, add a hardwood handle, and apply a cotton harness or custom leather harness. (The leather harness needs to be ordered a minimum of two weeks prior to class). The first day you will weave the base with pre-cut reed stakes. Then weave the sides of your pack with flat reed. The second day you will pack the weave tight, weave the false rim, cut and tuck stakes, and add the handle, rim, and skids. Learn how to fit your rim, carving your skids and rim. A harness will be applied to your completed pack. Students should bring the following tools: pencil, tape measure, scissors, diagonal cutters if you have them, spring type clothespins, awl or letter opener for tucking spokes, basketry packing tool, cable ties, knife or shaver for scarfing, clamps, hand towel, and soak bucket.
Fee = $130 + materials ($80.00 with cotton harness or $120.00 with leather harness).
