Legion to hold eventful winter carnival

PLATTSBURGH — The American Legion Post 1619 will be holding their annual Winterfest 2013 full of fun food and games on Feb. 1 through the 3 at the Legion, 219 Rand Hill Road.
The 2013 carnival will be honoring Korean War Veterans and celebrating the 60th anniversary of the “Forgotten War.”
The winterfest schedule will be include:
For Feb. 1: a Chicken & Biscuit Dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., lighting of The Military Theme Ice Sculpture, a Limited $1 Menu (hotdogs,michigans,hamburgers) Outside from 5 to 8 p.m., Budweiser Caribou Cup Broomball Tournament will be held at 6 p.m. Opening Ceremony w/ 40/8 Color Guard and Guest Speakers will be held at 7 p.m.
Other evening events include"SHARP" a spectacular fireworks show provided by Coyote Fireworks, a bonfire, open skating on the pond and sliding on hill which will be lighted for safety.
On Saturday Feb. 2: the Bud Light Snow Pitch Frostball tournament will be held.
The LaBatt Blue Curling Competition will also be held on Saturday with instructions given from 9 to 9:30 a.m. and game begins at 10 a.m.
There will be open skating and sliding on Hill w/ Henry's Pools & Spa Motorized Rope-Tow beginning at 10 a.m.
Music with RJ"s DJ Service Simply Music in the " Caribou Lounge " begin at 11 a.m.
Horse and Wagon Rides by Country Dream Farms will be going from noon to 3 p.m.
On Sunday Feb. 3: The Bud Light Snow Pitch Frostball Tournament Semi-finals begin at 10 a.m. and at noon the championship game will be held.
Face Painting - 50/50 Raffles - Hotel Stays w/ Dinner Raffles - Childrens Raffles, (YMCA, Beartown Ski Etc) - Chinese Auction and more will be held throughout the weekend.
All Raffles and Chinese Auction will be drawn on Sun Feb. 3 at 2p.m.
All proceeds go to the veterans assistance fund in our area!!!
The events are sponsored by The American Legion Post 1619, Monster Energy Drink, and Sam's Club.
